Installation of wireway
Created date: 2025-07-01

The installation of wireway can be divided into the following categories according to the different usage scenarios, types of wireway and engineering requirements:

Classified by installation location

(1) Open installation (surface installation)

Features: directly fixed on the wall, ceiling, floor or bracket, exposed and visible, easy for maintenance and expansion in later stage.

Applicable scenarios:

Office, shopping malls, factories and other places that do not require high aesthetics.

Old building renovation or temporary wiring.

Installation:

Fixed with expansion screws, clips or brackets.

Need to keep horizontal and vertical, evenly spaced (usually 1 ~ 1.5 metres a fixed point).

(2) Concealed installation (hidden installation)

Characteristics: pre-buried in the wall, floor or ceiling, neat appearance, but difficult to access.

Applicable scenarios:

home decoration, hotels, office buildings and other places with high requirements for aesthetics.

Installation:

Plaster covering after slotted and buried in the wire groove.

It is necessary to plan the path in advance to avoid conflict with water and electricity pipelines.

2. Classified by type of trunking

(1) PVC trunking installation

Steps:

Cutting: Cut the trunking according to the need, the cut should be flat.

Fixing: fixed with glue or screws (wall can be double-sided tape to assist).

Corner treatment: use matching elbow, tee and other accessories.

Note: Avoid high temperature environment, the radius of the corner should be greater than the minimum bending radius of the cable.

(2) metal trunking/bridge installation

Steps:

bracket installation: first fixed bracket or boom (spacing 1.5 ~ 2 metres).

Wire channel assembly: splicing groove body, with connecting pieces and bolts fastened.

Grounding treatment: metal trunking needs to be grounded throughout to prevent static electricity and lightning strikes.

Note: Sharp edges need to be polished to prevent scratching the cables.

(3) Grid Bridge Installation

Features: Lightweight and open type, suitable for data centres.

Installation: Fixed by hangers or wall mounting, cables are directly tied or fixed by snap fasteners.

3. Special Installation

(1) In-ceiling Installation

Fixed under the ceiling keel or floor plate, need to reserve the access port.

(2) Ground cable duct (under the anti-static floor)

Commonly used in computer rooms, the cable duct is embedded in the floor bracket system, waterproof and dustproof.

(3) Vertical installation

vertical wiring along the shaft or wall, need to strengthen the fixed (such as increasing the density of brackets).

4. Installation Precautions

Safety Standards:

Strong and weak wiring troughs need to be separated (spacing ≥ 30cm) to avoid interference.

The wire groove filling rate does not exceed 40% (to prevent overheating).

Process Requirements:

Round transition is used at the turn to reduce cable wear.

The cables in and out of the trunking should be protected by sheaths or rubber rings.

Environment:

Use waterproof trunking (e.g. IP65 rating) for humid places.

Corrosive environments use stainless steel or PVC material.

5. Tools and accessories

Tools: drill, level, cutter, screwdriver, etc..

Accessories: elbow, tee, terminal cover, grounding wire, etc.

The correct choice of installation can ensure that the wiring is safe, beautiful and easy to maintain. Complex projects are recommended to be operated by professional electricians and follow local electrical codes (e.g. GB 50303 ‘Code for Quality Acceptance of Construction of Building Electrical Works’).
